Xiangqi (象棋), also known as Chinese Chess, is a strategy board game played on a 9×10 board. With over 500 million players worldwide, it's one of the most popular board games on Earth. Each side has 16 pieces including a General, Cannons, Chariots, Horses, Elephants, Advisors, and Soldiers.
Xiangqi has unique pieces like the Cannon (which captures by jumping) and distinctive elements like the River and the Palace that constrain certain pieces. Pieces sit on intersections rather than squares, and there are 90 points instead of 64.
